2009 BC Strawberry Season Ending!
What a short harvest season we had this year. Most but not all of our farms are making plans to call it a season. We had lots of very juicy sweet strawberries but not everyone was able to get in on the experience. Due to the weather, the beginning of the harvest saw a huge volume of ripe strawberries and not enough buyers. This was followed mid season with a leveling off of supply and a huge surge in demand. Fortunately the weather was generally very good during the critical harvest time with only a few rather rainy days.
We strongly urge everyone to call ahead if you are planning to still try to find our BC strawberries. Ready picked berries should still be available but call ahead to be sure.
Click on our FARM LIST tab for phone numbers and the list of other crops now in season.
Remember, BC growers appreciate your patience and your support.
Many of the strawberry growers have other crops at their stands so a visit to the country will be a very worthwhile experience.
